"Puri Daj", Hair and Face Study

Hello everyone! This is my latest project, a four-week project made for the Advanced Game Art course at Futuregames, based off a concept by Pavel Hristov. For this project, I decided to steer away from the stylized characters I've done so far and try my hand at a more realistic game-ready character. The main focus for this project was to create a game-ready hairstyle using the hair card workflow, and the resulting hair mesh, at LOD0, sits at around 22k tris.
This character concept, which I've decided to dub "puri daj" or "grandmother" in Romani, was a real joy to work with—turns out I've a bit of a soft spot for creating elderly characters—and though the hair workflow was a bit of a mystery to me when I started this project, I'm quite happy with the result! I'd like to thank my mentor for this course, Gabriel Forsén, for the feedback and advice throughout this project.
I sculpted this old gal in ZBrush, created her bandana in Marvelous Designer, retopologised everything and placed out the hair cards in Maya, then created the textures using Substance Painter, and finally rendered everything in Unreal Engine 4.
